Abstract: TECNIO GROUPS – TECNIO groups are those selected by the Catalan Government under very strict requirements to be the leaders on the Research coming from Catalan Research Centers. Being a TECNIO group supposes to be a referent for R&D in the field they work. In exchange, they receive from the Government special subsidies and better financial conditions. Abstract: The presentation shows the activities that the Industrial Liaison Office has promoted to facilitate the diffusion of innovation within the local economy. After a brief introduction about SMILING project (SMart In home LIviNG: Home Automation technologies) that aims at developing a laboratory for knowledge transfer, from university research centres to companies, of advanced sensing and automation technologies for Home Living, two spin-off companies of Marche Polytechnic University (Arielab S.r.l. and IDEA Soc.coop. a r.l.) present their activities and projects in Home Automation sectors. Arielab S.r.l. presents a new product, developed thanks to the fruitful cooperation between University and Industry, for an effective solution to the problem of ensuring autonomy and well being at their own premises of elderly or disabled people, affected by reduced mobility. IDEA Soc.coop. a r.l. speaks about its automation project applied on green economy.

Abstract: The proposed presentation will provide a holistic picture on how a new EU member country develops and implements innovation strategy within a fiercely competitive environment where large economies exert dominant pressures and control. This perspective is particularly interesting for the conference delegates/participants since Cyprus (being one of the smaller EU economies) invests on innovation at a strategic level in its efforts to remain competitive. At the same time the presentation will aim to demonstrate how companies operating in Cyprus are performing in utilizing and expanding these opportunities offered to them.

 University Venture Arena

 

The “University Venture Arena” has become a traditional part of the PODIM conference. It will feature successful Slovenian companies that are already cooperating or would like to cooperate with universities, institutes, young researchers, young inventors and innovators, future entrepreneurs, and others. Participating companies will have the opportunity to present their activities and achievements to all PODIM Conference participants (students, professors, young researchers, entrepreneurs etc.). We are inviting also banks, venture capital funds and business angels to participate at the Arena, and by that to get to know better other participants as their existing as well as their future partners.


Microsoft Entrepreneurship Forum

On the first day of the conference the Microsoft Entrepreneurship forum will take place. In the frame of forum Microsoft Corporation and its partners will present programs, products and services for stimulating and supporting innovativeness and entrepreneurship among young people. One of such programs is Microsoft Imagine Cup competition which every year activates thousands of students from all over the world. For successful commercialization of their innovative ideas, the best teams then participate in the business accelerator program, organised by Microsoft Innovation center. In the forum successful young entrepreneurs form CEE region will present there cases of high-tech innovative start-up companies.

 

Start:up Slovenia 2011 Entrepreneurial Contest

Start:up Slovenia is Slovenian competition of start-up companies designed to recognize the best Slovenian new established innovative companies and there founders and to award them. With competition we are trying to boost Slovenian entrepreneurial activity and raise the positive awareness of entrepreneurship in Slovenian society. In the frame of evening gala event »Start-up of the year 2011« will be announced and awarded with 10.000 EUR money prize.
 

"Slovenian competition of start-up companies is an upgrade of regional competitions organized by different technology parks, incubators and regional centers. We are trying to spark the inter-regional competitiveness among the support organisations, which are helping developing high-tech start-up companies in their region and prove there mean of existence. In coming year Tovarna podjemov together with our partners is planning to lunch the competition in the countries of south and eastern Europe."
